Welcome to the hip Faubourg Montmartre in Paris !

It is such a pleasure to welcome you rue Cadet! In the heart of Faubourg Montmartre, you will quickly feel like a “real Parisian”. La Fantaisie sits in a genuine/authentic area of Paris, live and vibrant. Let us guide you through “our” Faubourg Montmartre.

The Parisian life

Food artisans, cafés with terraces, cute boutiques… the busy rue Cadet is a typical Parisian market street, located in the hip Faubourg Montmartre. There is no doubt the French and international travelers will be delighted by this neighborhood right in the heart of Paris, the city of lights. It is THE perfect location to discover the gems/beauties that Paris has to offer.

The art and culture heritage – Paris is a party!

The Faubourg Montmartre area is full of charm and stories to be told: the Cité de Trévise and its theater, the rue du Conservatoire, the rue des Martyrs, the Folies Bergère… This area has always been the place where artists, authors, musicians and even the Paris Opera Ballet dancers used to live. As you walk through the 9th district, you will notice the high number of museums, theatres, cinemas and art galleries.

« Passages couverts », the soul of Paris

Secret passages and surprising galleries take full part in the magic of the French capital. There are only 21 covered passages left in Paris and several of them are located nearby La Fantaisie ! Dated back from the 19th century, they are considered to be the origin of the shopping centres. The “passages couverts” are private covered streets, open to the public, where tourists and Parisian can walk around antique dealers, authentic boutiques, restaurants and small theatres. At the bottom of rue Cadet, you can find 3 of the “must see” passages in Paris :

- “Passage Verdeau” came from the name of its founder. This is probably the most authentic and charming. You will find a lot of antique dealers and boutiques.

“Passage Jouffroy” has the strongest heritage as it was the site of many architectural revolutions. It is worth a walk just for the shops display windows.

- “Passage des Panoramas” was built in 1799 and is the first covered passage of Paris. Nowadays, there are plenty of nice restaurants!

The culinary diversity/variety of the 9th district

The 9th district is known for its “bouillons” (traditional restaurants serving simple traditional food, where the waiters used to write the bill on the table!), typical French brasseries but also new places with innovative concepts. As Dominique Crenn with Golden Poppy at La Fantaisie, new Chefs chose this area to combine gastronomy, sharing, lifestyle, authenticity and innovation!

Here are some of our favorite spots :

- Chocho : The menu is designed with small plates to share, on the Catalan style of tapas. The Chef does not forbid anything and plays with his different culinary, cultural (American – French – Catalan) and artistic influences.

- Le Bon Georges : an address for two atmospheres according to the desire of the moment. The Bistrot, sparkling and in its own juice, and the Table du Chef for a more intimate moment and a tailor-made experience.

- Racines : bistrattoria on the premises of a former printing shop in the « Passage des Panoramas”.

- Libertino : Whimsical, gardenlike setting for standard Italian food like pizza & pasta, plus a large wine list.

Shopping is around the corner!

Paris is without contest THE shopping destination worldwide. Famous department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps with their historical domes are only a 10-minute walk from La Fantaisie. From luxury brands to young designers, clients can get the best of fashion, accessories, beauty and also home decoration.

While staying at La Fantaisie, guests enjoy the animation of the market street and take part of the daily life of the hip Faubourg Montmartre neighbourhood.
