“A sense of place” is the estate’s philosophy, Troplong Mondot cannot be explained, it needs to be lived.

Château Troplong Mondot offers its guests a rare experience in the heart of Saint-Emilion vineyards. An immersion in an art of living where everything blends together: the beauty of the vines, the serenity of the blond stone building, a tasty cuisine, the poetry of the wooded parkland and its permaculture vegetable garden.

A magnificent region

Saint-Emilion is a medieval town and an exceptional place full of history, located in the wine region of Bordeaux, in the south-west of France. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, the village is known worldwide for its protected wine-growing estate and the ancestral know-how associated with it.

The magic of a place often goes with its location. Situated in a privileged hilltop setting, the Troplong Mondot wine estate dominates its surroundings with a 360° view.

A prestigious wine estate to discover

“There is no great wine without a great soil but it doesn’t make everything. The excellence of a wine estate rests on the operational expertise: the right gesture, all the attention and care towards the vines…” says Aymeric de Gironde, General Manager of this 106-acre domain, one of the largest in Saint-Emilion.

For over 300 years, Troplong Mondot wines have reflected the richness of their terroir so favorable to the production of prestigious wines - Troplong Mondot is designated “Premier Grand Cru Classé”.

Staying at Troplong Mondot is a unique opportunity to discover the impressive winery and its architecture, and to enjoy the estate behind the scenes.

Le Château, an exclusive private home

Dating back to the 18th century and fully renovated in 2019, the Château is the exclusive refuge of guests who have chosen to make it their own, to enjoy Troplong Mondot’s experience: “art de vivre”, nature, authenticity and elegance.

In the privacy of your own chateau, Troplong Mondot makes every possible effort to provide the most memorable stay. The view is unique - the vineyards, the surrounding countryside and the unmissable village of Saint-Emilion.

The building is made of blonde stone, typical of the region, and the 500sqm (5380 sq ft) of interior are elegant, yet warm and welcoming. The ground floor is the living area, where hosts connect and relax. It features two living rooms and dining rooms, one with a large open kitchen and fireplace. The five bedrooms upstairs are spacious - each has its own bathroom. They infuse the peaceful atmosphere of a private home, carefully decorated in soft tones, with antique furniture.

Thanks to the wide range of immersive experiences offered and its unique setting, Château Troplong Mondot is the ideal place to discover the richness of the Bordeaux region, with friends or family. As a very confidential property, it is also perfectly suitable for exclusive professional reunions.

Local and seasonal gastronomy

On the estate and not far from the Château, the Michelin-starred Les Belles Perdrix restaurant offers a sublime setting. The dining room extends onto a panoramic terrace with a 180° view over an ocean of vines.

Chef David Charrier's cuisine is fine and precise - it magnifies the beauty of the terroir’s produces and follows the seasons. The estate's wines perfectly accompany the tasty seasonal dishes.

The Chef and his team use produces from the permaculture vegetable garden, as well as from local producers carefully selected.

Les Belles Perdrix has been awarded 1 Michelin star as well as 1 Green star.

An ever-present commitment to the environment

Troplong Mondot is a pioneer in sustainable winemaking and is taking ongoing actions to reduce its carbon footprint. There is a deep desire to protect nature and the surrounding environment.

Some initiatives :

Herbicides and insecticides have been banned from the vineyard for over 10 years; the land is only ploughed by horses, to keep the soil in the best, healthy condition.

The permaculture vegetable garden provides Chef David Charrier a large part of the vegetables and herbs for his dishes, which he supplements with products from local producers.

Restaurant waste is used to feed the estate's chickens and pigs.

Single-use plastics are no longer accepted on the estate.
